Virginia Heyerdahl, editor of the Friends of Hitty Newsletter, took Hitty Preble on several excursions, and sends the following photos:

Hitty Preble in the hand of the sculpture The Awakening by Phillip Johnson, in the Haines Point Park in Washington, DC.  It's a giant coming out of the ground, and all you can see are his huge hands, head, and parts of his legs -- nothing of his torso.  It's quite an exciting place for children to see.

Virginia says, "...you will probably recognize her outside the "gates of Graceland" in Memphis.  She did visit there, but I bought a big postcard and posed her there!"

Hitty at Mount Vernon, Virginia, on the gate in front of George & Martha Washington's house.

Hitty at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, posing with a statue of the famous Shawnee war chief, Tecumseh.
